Work Experience: Intern's Logbook

On Monday, My work experience at TheTin began! I was given a timetable, noting what I will be doing for the week.

I began by taking part in a Project Management meeting, confusing, but interesting! I then went to the downstairs area at TheTin’s office, to learn about the development capabilities of the agency, where I talked to Dan, senior developer, who told me about how the team build websites and more. This also interested me, but is not where my expertise is! Finally, I was given an intro to TheTin by brand director Tim who explained to me everything the team does and who some of their biggest clients are.

Tuesday, I began looking at the strategy part of the agency. This taught me how the team works with their clients, and how to get information they need from clients to deliver projects to them. The team included me in their morning strategy huddle, where they went over their clients and what they need to achieve before specific deadlines. We also looked through some previous strategic projects and social media activities. Tuesday afternoon, I went downstairs and had a design introduction by Tom the head designer, who told me the team’s tasks for the week. Being interested in design myself, he wanted to get me involved in their latest project for one of their biggest clients, PwC. I finished the day looking at visual illustrations, which related to the topic.

The rest of the week I carried on with research for the PwC project. I was introduced to John, who was working with us on the project. He helped us achieve what we wanted to create for the client, by creating illustrations, which would later be made digitally. I was later given a tutorial by Tom of the software we would be using to create these illustrations on the computer, sketched out by John.

Thursday was my last day of work experience at TheTin! I cracked on with creating some rough copies of illustrations on the computer, which could be used later on when finalising the designs. I was given some designs to focus on by John, which I started to create in the morning. In the afternoon, we regrouped to share what we have created and talked about what was good and what could be improved!

I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience at TheTin and enjoyed working with the team, feeling included and welcomed by everyone. From Project Management and Strategy, to Development and Design, there’s a lot I’ve learnt at TheTin!
